What was the purpose? Ten months. If we didn't train ourselves to pay attention, to let it sink in, what was the purpose? A 100% on a test will not be important ten years later. What is the purpose for a test? It is an attempt to help students learn various pieces of information to prepare them for a job and to get them said job. A 100% on a test which was crammed and forgotten will not be important. A 75% is more beneficial if there was a piece of information taken out of it, no matter how small. If students don't take something out of a test, an assignment, etc. then this attempt made by teachers, the government, and other people of the sort isn't a productive attempt.
Grade 9 "discontinues", grade 10 "begins". Putting these grades in categories doesn't change what they are. Two months of vacation gives students more trust that there is a difference. It isn't different. I "passed" part 9/12 of the same thing. The correct thing to say is "grade 9 continues, there is a vacation, and grade 9 continues."
