Does bad sleeping habits result in poor academic success?

This study was intended to assess changes in nightly sleep duration over the course of one semester based on gender, residency, and year in school among college students. In addition, issues related to short sleep, factors affecting sleep, and perceived restfulness were assessed. Methods: 820 students from a Midwest university completed four separate monthly e-survey's assessing sleep duration, including time to bed, time to wake, types of sleep disturbance, and perceived restfulness.

 Getting more high-quality sleep is associated with better academic performance, according to a research abstract that will be presented on Wednesday, June 10, at SLEEP 2009, the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies. The positive relationship is especially relevant to performance in math. This article talks about how adolescents not getting enough sleep will likely to do bad in certain areas in school.
